Céline luggage

the céline mini luggage. designed by phoebe philo, when she joined céline. i know it comes in a variety of different and amazing colours, but as the simple woman i am, i would love to have this in black. it's classic, timeless and officially on my wish list. (read: yes santa claus, it is about time that you start coming through on those endless lists that i have been sending your way for years.....)

Riccardo Tisci

fashion history. you should already know the name, riccardo tisci. if you don't, then you need to read this post and never mention that information to anyone. he is the creative director of givenchy. riccardo tisci is givenchy. with his melancholic, gothic, fetishistic, romantic and sensual approach to fashion, he has redefined and transformed this historic french fashion house. i am in awe of this man and his design aesthetics that according to him are influenced by his upbringing amongst eight sisters.

he left italy at the age of seventeen to study fashion design at central saint martins in london and returned to italy after graduating, where he worked for different brands, including antonio berardi, coccapani, puma, ruffo research. he set up his eponymous label in september of 2004, and was offered the job as creative director of givenchy in 2005, replacing julien macdonald, and becoming the youngest ever designer to helm a couture house.
"I am delighted to join Givenchy and very proud to be able to bring my vision to this prestigious French haute couture house, whose history inspires me."
he was named designer of the year in 2012. he has worked with the likes of madonna, lady gaga, rihanna and jay-z and kanye for their watch the throne tour and album. he is riccardo tisci, get acquainted.

AW08 Givenchy

i love reminiscing. i do. i bookmark old collections, so that i can return and feel nostalgic and see where the designers have been and where they are now. i love the old. i love the new too, but let's get nostalgic. first, let's talk about the slight obsession that i have for riccardo tisci that i should probably see someone about, and then let's talk about givenchy's autumn/winter collection from 2008/2009. the scene is set. begin.

after three years at the helm of givenchy, riccardo tisci gave us pure perfection. yet again. that collection was religious, gothic, chic, conservative, elegant, cohesive, rock and roll, there are not enough adjectives. just. breathtaking. it was perfect for an autumn/winter collection; everything from the black colours combined with the toned down pastels, the materials, the cut. someone help me, my mind can't comprehend this. i loved the leather, the understated fashion sexiness (read: yes, this does differ from normal sexy), the tailored jackets and coats, the trousers that looked as if they had been spray painted on. and the shoes... that is a post of it's own. i always feel like a collection should make you think, it should make you consider something and it should inspire you. it made me feel inspired. thank you riccardo for sharing the beauty of your mind with this world. some of my favourite looks from the collection beneath, watch the entire collection here

Jade Impérial

"a delicate minty green that makes it seem as though spring has truly sprung" vogue.uk. there is nothing more to say, yves saint laurent la laque couture in jade impérial is a nail polish that you need for this spring. it is discrete, feminine and versatile. it can add personality to a completely black ensemble or life to a graphic dress, i will definitely be wearing this with both. it retails at £18 in department stores worldwide (read: prices may vary, depending on which country you reside in).

SS13 Graphics

there is something about memories, let's reminisce. monochrome, stripes and short hemlines. modern interpretation of 60s. this was, for me, one of the strongest collections that marc jacobs has presented in recent years. it was incredibly cohesive, innovative and extremely wearable. it translates with ease from the runway to street style. the styling, makeup and hair definitely accentuated the garments and made the collection seem even more focused. i wouldn't mind wearing this dress for a spring dining, a loose brigitte bardot inspired bun and oriental flats.

Graphic

there are few trends for spring that i am excited about. flowers, pencil skirts (read: but do they really count as a trend, when they are a classic. really?) but none make my fingers tingle as graphics do. we will talk more about marc jacobs spring/summer collection later, where the pictures are from. that is a post on it's own. actually, it could be a religion on it's own, but i will leave that for someone else.

this trend suits perfectly for my minimalistic and simple style. the beautiful thing about graphic prints are that they are so versatile and wearable. wear a graphic t-shirt, a graphic dress or a paired of graphic jeans. the possibilities are endless. what trends are you adopting this spring?

The Row

black is always the new black, it's classic and effortless. the entirety of my basics are black or in natural earthy colours. spring is definitely coming soon and this t-shirt and i belong together. it's made from viscose with a silk trim and even though it is a little expensive, it is definitely an investment in the basic part of your wardrobe; my wardrobe is without a shed of doubt primarily basics, so that is were i invest. i love the supple silk trim. find it at mytheresa

Proenza Schouler

let's talk about proenza schouler. sophisticated and minimalistic. there has definitely been black and white graphics in many collections this fashion week, but no one seem to do it as effortlessy as jack mccollough and lazaro hernandez. the minimalistic approach, keeping garments in black and whites with hints of peach and mint kept the focus on garments and technique. for this collection the talented duo worked both with laser cut details, ultrasonic welding, tweed bouclé and let's not forget the chain embroided dresses. the collection was extraordinary, i loved the attention to detail and the simplicity of it. highlights for me was definitely and without a doubt the rounded coats and jackets.

Theyskens' Theory

i love this collection more every time i see it. it is tremendously classic and the tailoring is stunning, even though the fit is slouchy. the styling for this show complemented the garments very well, especially the sleek hair and knee high boots that will definitely be everywhere this fall. the boots and bare legs contribute with an understated sexy feel to the collection, while the classic and simple garments balances this out well. this collection was, to me, all about returning to classic pieces with a modern olivier theysken touch. i am struggling finding a specific highlight from this collection, because i thought the entire collection was so well styled, so the focus was on the outfit first, then the individual pieces after.

Altuzarra

i love the simplicity in altuzarras fall collection. the focus is on the tailoring, the cut and the fit. the collection complements the female body beautifully, while it still remains raw, edgy and unique. the combination of the well-cut coats, mesh and leather skirts and vinyl is brilliant. it is very fashion forward while still remains wearable. if i could choose one item from this collection it would definitely be the mesh and leather skirt, because it is both raw and feminine and is extremely versatile.
